No networking on iMac install

I finally took the plunge and installed Ubuntu on my iMac. You may
remember that I had problems with my CDR media in the past, which was
solved finally by using an expensive Apogee CDR (mainly used for audio
CD masters) media. Unfortunately I used the only one I had to burn the
Warty preview release, so my issue here may already be fixed in the
daily CD's and I'll have to wait until I get different media to try
again.
The iMac is a "Grape" 333Mhz (Rev. D) with 256Mb RAM. Everything on it
is stock except for a larger HD I installed.
I'm having a few issues, but I'll tackle them one at a time. The most
immediate issue is that networking isn't working at all. I'd swear
that I see an error about networking during bootup, but I don't see
any mention of it in dmesg (which is the same as the boot messages,
right?).
lspci only reveals 4 lines of info (truncated here as I have no way to
copy/paste, save a file or compose email on that machine. had to write
this by hand.)
Host Bridge: Motorola MPC106
Apple Computer Inc. Paddington Mac I/O
ATI 3D Rage
USB Controller: OPTi Inc. 82C861
Any other suggestions for troubleshooting or a fix?
Thanks!
Aaron
