Dialout issues - please help

Hi,

I got no responses to my previous post on pppd issues - hey, no problem.

On my quest to solve my inability to dial out, I think it all relates to
this:

Oct  9 14:50:43 localhost hal.hotplug[4680]: waiting for net info at
/class/net/ppp0
Oct  9 14:50:43 localhost hal.hotplug[4680]: Dont know how to wait for net
at /class/net/ppp0; sleeping 1000 ms

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Would it be worth trying a 'snapshot' version of Ubuntu, in case this has
a fix?

I would *really* like to get this sorted. No internet access is very
limiting, and trying to upgrade packages is a pain......HELP....please.
