gamma correction in Ubuntu?

No, sorry. I assume you've already tried several settings and played
around a little with it. Small changes aren't always very visible, I had
an awful monitor a while back that was way too dark and had to crank up
gamma to 1.7 to get it half decent. You may want to go as low as 0.5 or
even lower.
But if it isn't showing any changes at all, I've no idea how to help.
Maybe someone actually using ubuntu can help more.
