Floppy install

That is a bug in SMB then, please report it at bugzilla.ubuntu.com (I
can't seem to find anything related there).

Meanwhile you can use debian floppies. Ubuntu should upgrade fine from
Debian _stable_, just change your repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list.
