nvidia AMD64 howto - worked for me - correction (apologies)!

I tried everything you said. I even reinstalled Ubuntu with latest nightly build iso. and then followed your steps.
Could not get pass step 5.
uname -a, ls -al /usr/src, ls -ld /usr/modules/2.6.8.xxx/build everything returns same kernel but still nvidia install.run can not find kernel interface. Says it needs to compile interface but could not.
So I guess I give up now.
