new to ubuntu, network/internet not working (driver problem?)

strangely enough, last night i  tried:

sudo rmmod sk98lin
sudo modprobe sk98lin

and it started working. i guess this is just a horrible case of user
error (god i feel stupid), but i'd run those both before - so i'm not
sure what exactly went on with that. as i stated in my first email,
i'm pretty much a linux newbie... but going through all of this has
helped me learn a little bit, so i guess it's not all bad! sorry for
the trouble.

i have a few other minor issues i'd like some help with, but i guess
i'll just send a new email for those. thanks a bunch for the
suggestions...
