Starting OpenLDAP hangs at boottime

Hi list!

In the past weekend, I installed Ubuntu Linux on my computer at home.
I installed several additional packages (Courier IMAP, bind9 and
OpenLDAP) and all available updates. Now, when I boot my machine,
it hangs at the message

Starting OpenLDAP

After pressing CTRL-C a couple of times, the message changes to

Starting OpenLDAP. [ok]

and the boot process continues. OpenLDAP works as expected, and when
running

sudo /etc/init.d/slapd restart

or

sudo /etc/init.d/slapd stop
sudo /etc/init.d/slapd start

in a terminal, it works perfectly. It just doesn't seem to work at
boot-time.

The version of OpenLDAP I'm using is 2.1.30-2ubuntu3 and Ubuntu is
running on a x86 machine.

Any ideas?
