Request for a kernel patch for IBM Thinkpad trackpoint device

I've read a couple of times on this mailing list that the kernel guys
would like to hear any reasons that users have for compiling their own
kernels (as it would be preferable if users didn't have to).
I use an IBM Thinkpad (T21) and I compile my own kernels in order to use
Stephen Evanchik's kernel patch to enable all the additional features
for the trackpoint pointing device. It's located here:
http://www.clarkson.edu/~evanchsa/software/kernel/patches/trackpoint-2.6.6.patch
I don't know whether it's possible, but could this patch be somehow
included in your distribution/kernel packages as standard?
Many thanks,
Jaime
