If you want time updates, wouldn't it be better to just run ntpd to keep
your clock synchronised? I think the only reason ntpdate runs at start
up is that ntpd will give up if your time is wrong by more than a
thousand seconds, so ntpdate is run at startup to get the clock around
the right time. Ntpd can then run and keep the time accurate.
