I don't boot into Ubuntu on PPC

I burned the ISO using Toast, and the install goes fine till the point that the
machine has to reboot to continue. 

After the reboot, I get the boot loader, (i choose L for Linux) and I get a
black screen with some white text that shows linux kernel version etc. etc.  but
I do not get a command line or anything else (it just stops). 

How do I finish the install??
