Thinkpad 600E install

I installed Ubuntu on My latop a ThinkPad 600E and it works great.

The only problem is that my sound doesn't work. It is common among the
Linux distros. I have never gotten it working. I have seen a few web
pages that show how other people get it working in other distros, but I
haven't had good success since I have used mostly Debian before.

Discover recognizes the device as CS46xx driver for the sound card.
This doesn't work as the chip is a CS4239 I believe. The sites that I
have found tell me that it will work with the CS4232 driver. Is there
an easy way to get discover to recognize it as a CS4232 rather than the
CS46xx?

It is not a critical thing but it would be nice to have sound.

Thanks
Nathan
