 Your kernel dose not support ACPI? Sometimes it happends with some
boards. Try to recompile kernel or see if ACPI/APM modules are loaded
(hint: lsmod). Change session to Console (ie. ALT+CTRL+F2), login, and
perform: sudo init 0 -- see what's going on while going down.
