I've never used apt-get, and I've never edited it's
sources.list. I always use Synaptic. I did add the main,
restricted, universe repositories in Synaptic, and I have
installed other things from restricted and universe. So, it
seems as if Synaptic thinks a package is missing from all of the
repositories.

Before I go to the command line, I'd like to know if this is a
problem in Synaptic. Does anyone know?

Thanks,
