Next problem :-(

I had the same problem, try ssh'ing into the system from somewhere else
assuming you have started sshd and then restart the gdm. This problem
solved itself on a reboot, I was switching kernels. I don't think the
kernel had anything to do with it, but what caused it I am not sure.
