LTModem problem solved.

Before when I had my Lucent winmodem working it was when my ACPI was
broken, since then I updated my laptop's bios and managed to get ACPI to
load but it must have caused some sort of conflict with my modem. Every
time I tried to use dial-up my system would freeze. I found the answer
was to add pci=noacpi in the boot loader just to disable that part of
the ACPI that was causing the problem.

If you need this driver the best package to use is the source package
from: http://www.physcip.uni-stuttgart.de/heby/ltmodem/
ltmodem-8.31a8.tar.gz

The package has got a build_deb script that you can run to make a deb
file to install. I copied the /dev/ttyLT0 that is created during the
install to another location to link back to /dev so it wouldn't get lost
on re-booting.
