Problems on PowerPC

The deafening silence has perhaps shown this wasnt the
right place to ask my question. Where should I look
for help? Is this a basic linux problem that exposes
my newbie status? I dont mind getting a book or doing
some research. I would just love to get it running so
I can load it onto my actual desktop.

Just to remind you it was a Kernel panic when 'tried
to kill init' upon the second boot of the install
process. This was using the iso downloaded on about
26th Sept - but the build is 20040915
