What I should have added is that anything you put in the .xinitrc file
gets started with X windows, regardless if you use Gnome, kde or
something else.
If you put something in Gnome's sessions, it only starts for that
session.
There are obviously advantages and disadvantages to both ways, take your
pick :-)
