ubuntu and midi/alsa

hi list,
i just switched from gentoo to ubuntu and now im in need of some help
configuring my sound/alsa-stuff to get hd-recording/midi working.
jack and ardour performing well, only midi isnt availlable.

im used to have my aliases and options for my card arranged like this:
..............................................
alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1
options snd-emu10k1 id="first" enable_midi="1"
##  OSS/Free portion
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
## alias sound-slot-1 snd-card-1
# OSS/Free portion - card #1
and so on....

putting the option-tag in /etc/modutils/alsa-base has no effect.
so now im a bit confused where to put the option-tags for midi in
ubuntu. any help is greatly welcome.
