Is there a way to rerun the discovery/configuration of CD/DVD/HDs. I added a second DVD drive, GDM runs OK run when I log in XF86 dies after a couple of seconds (i.e. it douse not really startup).
This would also be great as user would not have to worry too much about technical stuff after adding hardware.

That's ok.

|
| but surley just running dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 (and maybe
| renaming the old XF86Config-4, just incase), would do the job
| instead? (as this is still running the post-install script).
No. dpkg-reconfigure will not autoprobe hardware and if you rename the
config you will endup without a new one.
(this is a long policy explanation that i will save for more curious
people ;))

| Sorry, my original post sould of said 'xserver-xfree86', rather
| than x86-xserver, I was tired and it was late.

No problem. People that maintains XFree86 have special mind powers to
enter users mind :P
