Where's FireFox 1.0?

Right now, for some reason, the instructions pointed to in Lloyd D
Budd's 11-22-2004 08:15 PM post didn't work for me (I've emailed the
provider). Which is why, BTW, I'd rather see some sort of Ubuntu
Central coordinate releases of upgraded packages for released versions.
6-12 months is too long to wait for updates to core programs like
browsers.

But you can install the new firefox by following that link and then
drilling down the URL that is supposed to be added to
/etc/apt/sources.lst for the binary packages to a directory with the 3
required packages (among others). You can copy them to your local
directory, and then do the "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" to get them installed.

Not sure what this will do to your local synaptic catalog - I'm new to
the Debian way of doing things.
