Yes, but on the upside, it tends to work :) It's true you need to 
install a fair bit of development stuff first, but it's not a total 
waste - it might come handy one day. I'm no developer, but even I feel 
that a Linux  system without development tools is kind of neutered. It's 
good to be able to compile something when you need to, even if that's a 
pretty rare  occasion, so I didn't mind installing it all.
