Bryan, have you tried smbc? I find it works very nicely for accessing
remote shares and browsing networks. The nice thing is that unlike
SMB4K, it doesn't require you to mount/unmount shares in order to
access them (that's handled transparently in the background).
Available in the Ubuntu universe.
