usb memory stick problem

I just bought a 512 meg usb zip "stick". It works fine (without having
done anything) on a Fedora core 3 system. I am using Ubuntu and I've
been messing around with fstab to try to get it to
work. So far, no luck. I even created a zip1 subdirectory in the media
folder and have been trying to use /dev/sd* to load the thing
(filesystem vfat). No luck. Does anyone have a working line in their
fstab file that gets this to load? I'm able to load a iomege 250 meg
cartridge external zip drive on zip0 without any problems. But this
little zip stick is definitely lots more portable and has more memory
too. This is the only thing that I've found so far that Ubuntu doesn't
really shine in. It's solid as a rock everywhere else. Thanks.
