HELP!! User issue

Thanks, Vram, you just saved me a few more grey hairs :-)

I thought that "su" was disabled altogether in Ubuntu. Nice to know
that you can actually log in as root by doing "su".  I had tried it
before but always got an authentication error. Is that because I
hadn't set the root password before?
