In Ubuntu 5.04, ("Hoary").  Coming to desktop near you, in April 2005.

Firefox 1.0 wasn't [isn't?] stable at the last freeze date---in fact Firefox
1.0RC was even downgraded to 0.9.3 because of the major bugs against it.

Not greater that 6 months.  That's how often Ubuntu is released.

Ubuntu really is trying to be the best for you---the best combination of the
latest, greatest and safest.
