Name resolution painfully slow

Neither Dial-up nor ADSL its a network.
Manual static IP and address setup, setup exactly the same as the
windows config.

On a second look at it, I'm now pretty sure that the resolution
issue's are only from within firefox (0.9.3).
Also firefox itself seems to be very sluggish at times..
