mounted media don't appear on desktop

I use hoary and discover just now a new problem: when I insert a
removable media (zip drive or cdrom), a nautilus window appear with the
content of the removable media, as usual. BUT, there is no more icon of
the removable media on the desktop. So that I have to open terminal and
type sudo umount media/removable to unmount it. How to solve this
problem?
