Cut and past issue

Hello Everyone,
as I used Ubuntu I discovered that you cannot copy and past graphics
from one program like for instance Gimp or Inkscape into Open Office.
Is this a Gnome issue and/or a GTK integration issue. Under KDE with KDE
programs I am able to copy graphics into Open Office. From an end
user prospective that is not very good, because especially Windows
users are used to do a copy and past of everything.
Has anyone a solution to this ???

Beside of this Ubuntu is a nice distribution.
