evolution imapd and SSL

Try to connect to our secure imapd fails in evolution (works in kmail) with 
the following problem:-

"Failed to connect to IMAP server galena.iucr.org in secure mode: SSL 
negotiations failed."

on on the mail server

imapd[4329]: SSL error status: error:1408F10B:SSL 
routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number


 Anyone have any ideas?
