[hoary] initial usability reactions

I like right-click. It's useful. I like some of its offshoots, too,
like scroll wheels. I don't know what I think about Apple's decision to
stick with a one-button mouse overall - I can see both sides - but
there's a side effect of it that is great for usability: There's
nothing in Mac OS X that you can't do without a right-click.
Right-click functions on Mac OS X much the same way as it does on
Windows when you plug in a two-button mouse, but when you don't there's
always a one-button way to do it. Even if you never figure out that
Control-click substitutes for right-click you can do nearly everything.
Click-and-hold, duplication in the main menu bar, and little pop-up
menus in controls all provide this redundancy and allow those not
proficient with a second mouse button to get along just fine, without
getting in the way of those who do have one. I'd like to see Ubuntu and
other distros adopt this approach too.
