Mondo/mindi - the story so far

I've had a rather unsuccessful note trying to get Mondo working. I was
trying to get it working partly to do a HowTo for Ubuntu Linux and also
to use it myself. I am running on the Warty Warthog release of Ubuntu
and using the unofficial Mondo Debian packages. This is what I did/got.
Any pointers would be great. i am currently setting up IT at a community
center and would love to use mondo.

So, this is what I did - added following to sources.list:-

#mondo/mindi

deb
http://www.desknow.com/desknow/directfiles/aleidenfrost/mr-debs-unofficial/packages/sid/ ./

deb-src
http://www.desknow.com/desknow/directfiles/aleidenfrost/mr-debs-unofficial/packages/sid/ ./

Then I did:-

apt-get install libstdc++6

dpkg -i mindi-partimagehack_0.6.2-3_i386.deb
mindi-kernel_2.4.27-1_i386.deb (from Debian testing)

apt-get install mindi mondo

I then run mindi and got:-

ben at red ~ $ sudo mindi

Mindi Linux mini-distro generator v1.04 by Hugo Rabson

Latest Mindi is available from http://www.mondorescue.org

BusyBox sources are available from http://www.busybox.net

Do you want to use your own kernel to build the boot disk (y/n) ?n

Would you like to use LILO (instead of syslinux)

for your boot CD/floppies (y/n) ?n

I shall include Mindi's failsafe kernel, not your kernel, in the boot
disks.

However, you are still running your kernel. If Mindi fails to create
your

disks then it may still be a result of a problem with your kernel.

Analyzing dependency requirements 92% |Where are your LVM-Tools?

In the directory '/root/images/mindi' you will find the images:-

mindi-bootroot.1722.img mindi-bootroot.2880.img mindi-data-1.img
mindi-data-2.img mindi-data-3.img mindi-data-4.img mindi-data-5.img
mindi-data-6.img mindi-data-7.img

Would you like to create boot+data floppy disks now (y/n) ?n

Shall I make a bootable CD image? (y/n) y

NB: Mindi's bootable CD always uses isolinux.

For a bootable CD w/LILO, please use Mondo.

Finished.

Boot and data disk images were created.

I also have managed to create a image running mindi on a 2.4 kernel,
burn on 2.6b kernel and boot the mindi CD OK, however I cant write CDs
from my 2.4 kernel so that is not that useful.

Anyway any advice would be good,

Ben
