ext modem

Thanks for all help. I agree there should be better help in setting this
up from the
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=3223&highlight=modem
I presently am not connected to a land line but I want to be able use
this setup when I travel. Is there a way to query the modem without
going through pppconfig, wvdial, etc?
