synaptic does not 'purge' /etc/sane.d/

Hi all

I try to install my Agfa Snapscan e50. Because of some errors I try to
remove the whole xsane- and xsane-common packkages completely using
synaptic 'Mark for complete removal' (auf deutsch 'Zum vollständigen
Entfernen vormerken'). But when I check the /etc/sane.d directory it's
still there (after applying synaptic 'Mark for complete removal').

Is the sane.d directory not part of the xsane/xsane-common packages or
does synaptic its job incorrect?

btw: Now I realized that the package sane was not installed yet. Does
packages xsane/xsane-common not need the package sane?

Kind regards, Roland
