mplayer fails to start

Hello,

I included the universe and multiverse repositories in my apt
configuration, and installed mplayer-custom. 

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me.

I'm not sure why. I'm on a dual-P-III system.

I'm going to try getting the source package and rebuilding.
