Hi there!
My sister got an old Canon BJC-240 to print some stuff and after
configurating it on Computer -> System Configuration -> Printing, I
could send jobs to print, but the printer doesn't print them.
So far, I saw the following:
1) I can't change the printer type (on the Connection tab on the
printer properties) to Local printer. Every time I change something
there, close the dialog and open it again, it goes to "Network
printer: CUPS Printer (IPP)" and "URI: parallel:/dev/unknown-parallel0".
I can even change the URI, but it will always revert back to
unknown-parallel0...
2) There is not indication of error in the cups log. The "error_log"
only shows
I [11/Nov/2004:09:54:15 -0200] Adding start banner page "none" to job
9.
I [11/Nov/2004:09:54:15 -0200] Adding end banner page "none" to job 9.
I [11/Nov/2004:09:54:15 -0200] Job 9 queued on 'BJC-240' by 'slow'.
I [11/Nov/2004:09:54:15 -0200] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops (PID 3822) for job 9.
I [11/Nov/2004:09:54:15 -0200] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip (PID 3823) for job 9.
I [11/Nov/2004:09:54:15 -0200] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel (PID 3824) for job 9.
3) The printer is not in pause mode.
4) I can print the test page without a problem on Windows.
Any tips?
