loop-AES and ubuntu

I have been using an encrypted disk with my laptop in FC2 and now also
in Ubuntu, using losetup, and it works very nicely. I've only run into
one problem, which maybe someone here could help me with:
In FC2 I added the following to /etc/rc.local in order load cryptoloop
(needed in order to mount the drive):
modprobe cryptoloop
modprobe twofish
However, though I've done the same in Ubuntu, cryptoloop doesn't get
loaded for some reason. So when I boot into Ubunto I have to manually
run "sudo modprobe cryptoloop", and then mount my encrypted disk.
Does Ubuntu not read /etc/rc.local when booting? Is there somewhere
else I should place the modprobe command for it to be run automatically
on startup? In another point above someone referred to modprobe.conf,
but I have no such file on my system.
Thanks for the help.
