How to get apps to start up on GDM startup?

Hey Travis. You're my hero! :-) I've been meaning to look into this
issue for weeks.

One question though - The Intellimouse back/forward buttons seem to be
scrolling the page up and down instead of going back and forward
through different pages. Is this what you intended? As a web
developer, I've worn out those extra buttons on two Intellimice now -
and I'll like to continue that long standing tradition. :-)

I think Ralf is on the right track about where to put the commands,
but I don't know for sure.
