Renaming printers

I don't have the answer either, but I would like to.  :-k 

For me, I would specifically like to create multiple instances of a
given printer, but lock in the print characteristics.  This is
something I did with Fedora, and I was able to share (for example) just
the draft mode but disallow using it under color and high quality
modes.

What I would like to do is add the same printer three times, altering
the name for each instance.  As it is, I can only add the same printer
and it overrides the existing printer (named by the system).  I would
very much like to know how to override this.
