SATA-hdds as Ide and not SCSI devices?

Hello everyone,
I installed warty successfully by using the workaround mentioned in bug #1440, however now my cd-roms are not detected by the installed warty/ubuntu-linux.
Using the warty-livecd (kernel 2.6.7) works perfectly for both sata-hdds & pata-cd-roms - however it detects the sata-disks as ide-devices (/dev/hda etc)
Is there a way to change the installed warty-system (kernel 2.6.8) so it'll also use the ide-drivers instead of using or mapping sata drives as scsi devices (/dev/sda ...)?
Best regards / MfG,
