Sending DHCP client hostname

I have noticed that when my ubuntu machine requests an IP address via
DHCP, it does not seem to send a client hostname. In the dhcpd.leases
file on the DHCP server, the entry for the ubuntu machine does not have
a client-hostname entry.

I could not find anything in the dhclient man pages to tell it how to
send a client hostname. Is there a way, or should I switch to a
different dhcp client (I use dhcpcd successfully on other debian boxes).

I need the client-hostname entry in the dhcpd.leases file so I can
automatically generate a DNS entry for the machine.

Thanks
