I am a Amil M7400 notebook user myself. It;s agreat notbook.
To solve your problem you have to compile a kernel module yourself.

Download fsam7400 (http://zwobbl.homelinux.net/pub/)

extract to a temporary place.

Install gcc and kernel headers via synaptic.

Then run "make" and "sudo make install" in your temp folder.

The sudo modprobe fsam7400 to load the fsam7400 module. To make this
permanently add fsam7400 in you /etc/modules list.

This works for me.
