DNS resolution delays (Re: Disabling IPv6)

Yes, I tested the following apps:

1. Firefox
2. Evolution
3. Pan

and all problematic.

Note that, about:config trick in firefox did not help in my situation.
Also, the only way to remove ipv6 was to manually rename the actual module
file. Modifying /etc/modprobe.d/aliases file (update-modules
and update-modules.modutils afterwards) did not work. (This has been
discussed before)

The problem may stem from my ISP's windows based name servers (or from my
router/firewall), I tried another server last night which is in US and
Linux based. Though there is a certain latency compared to the local
server, the resolving time is not 9 seconds but merely 2 seconds now.
