totem-xine blue screen

Hello,

my totem-xine from Ubuntu has a strange behavior.
If I start totem with an empty playlist and choose to play a dvd, it is 
played but I can only hear the sound and see a blue screen.
I exit totem and start it again with the dvd in playlist, click the play 
button and now I can see the film.
Why do I always have to restart totem with the media already in playlist 
to see something?
