problems with totem and gxine

Try simply using xine, rather than gxine. I experienced the same
problems with gxine and totem, but xine is fine.

The main problem with totem is that you get a blue screen on playback of
a DVD on first playback. Usually, this is fixed by closing totem and
restarting it, though.
