Used to be that way a long time ago, nowadays I would not give it a 
second thought unless I have to program against an RS6000 (which I 
cannot afford, but once had to)
In my opinion the speed is about the same nowadays but the IBM JDK has 
more bugs than Suns reference implementation.

If you really want to have an excellent JDK which surpasses Suns in the 
same version number, then go for Blackdown.
