If you're using Exchange 2003, then an IMAP client also get ICAL 
appointments / meeting requests. Evolution is happy with these. You 
can reply to these and the sender is notified of your proposed 
attendance etc. Your local evolution calendar is updated and you get 
alarms etc. Not sure if the central / shared diary is updated or not. 
This is at least an advance over Exchange 5.5 where I needed an ugly 
procmail/perl script to catch the appointment entries.
