PnP modem no worky

I have a modem that identifies itself as a "Cirrus Logic PnP V34 Modem".
It's a hardware modem in an ISA slot. wvdial doesn't pick it up on a
scan. There's only one ISA slot and the modem seems to be taking IRQ 5
without conflicts. The modem worked in the Win95 machine I pulled it
from so I doubt it has any problems. Can anyone offer me a suggestion
as to how I might fix this? I've consulted the Linux Modems HowTo
without much success. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
