after installing the nvidia drivers, i had to edit my xorg.conf file.
the display was set to 800x600, and my monitor is 1024x768. someone told
me that i had to add the line:

Option "IgnoreEDID" "1"

in the Device Section.

I did it and i could see everything in a full 1024x768 resolution. i
even had the 3d acceleration.

but, after upgrading to the new 2.6.9 kernel, i think that i have lost
this feature of hardware acceleration. glxgears dont work, and glxinfo
provides a bunch of error messages.

the nvidia modules are loaded, that's not a problem, so i would like to
know where should i try to start looking for a solution.

thank you

I keep on learning
