Hello!
I hope there is someone present on the list, because this is kind of urgent. I just finnished installing Ubuntu on my brothers PC and I can't get to GNOME. When I start the system, the process stops at the command line. The last thing I see on the boot-up list (don't know what I should call it) is "* Checking battery state [OK]" and then I'm at the command prompt. Nothing unusual happend during the installation. This has happend a couple of times before (at previous installations in different machines), but at those times the system booted to GNOME after first restart (sudo shutdown -h now).
Please hurry and help me because I'm writing this on Windoze XP :-( Thanks! (and my brother looks critical :)
