Xorg broken after upgrading

Have just done an apt-get dist-upgrade with Horay and X has totaly
stoped working.  In the Xoef log it says:

...
Failed to load module "bitmap" (module douse not exist, 0)
...
Failed to load module "pcidata" (module douse not exist, 0)
...
Fatel surver error:
Unable to load required base modules, Exiting....
...

Kind of difficult to email the whole log file so hopev this is enough
info for someone to help.  Also upgrading a Debian testing box to
Ubunto Horay and getting exactly the same problem.
